All ESR positions will be jointly hosted by an academic and industry member of the consortium, with all successful candidates hosted for at least 18 months at industry partners. The multidisciplinary training programme delivered to early-stage researchers during the BioImplant ITN programme will enhance career development and employability, promoting their development into leading innovators in the European Medical Technology sector. The Biomechanics Research Centre, NUI Galway, has a vibrant research culture and has created a reputation for research excellence in the areas of intelligent systems, advanced materials, biomedical engineering, clean energy and environment, and communication technologies. RWTH Aachen University is one of the nine leading technical universities in Germany and therefore part of the TU9-network. The transfaculty professorship of “Biohybrid & Medical Textiles” led by Prof. Jockenhoevel directly links and combines engineering expertise and medical applications. The aim of the research is always to develop custom-made solutions for clinically relevant problems. One part of the transfaculty professorship is based at the institute for textile technology, having expertise and a long history in mechanical engineering and textile application technology. The Biohybrid & Medical Textiles group is working on the development of new kinds of biomaterials and new applications of textile implants. Several interdisciplinary research groups within RWTH focus on tailoring new materials to the design and production of implants and medical devices guided by clinicians needs.

IMDEA Materials Institute is a non-profit research organization devoted to research in Materials Science and Engineering in Madrid (Spain).
